Platform shutdowns, account lockouts, centralized control, metadata degradation, silent data corruption, and vendor lock-in present systemic risks to long-term digital preservation.

Digital Legacy Studios (DLS) is building a decentralized, preservation-grade infrastructure designed to ensure that photos, videos, and their associated metadata remain authentic, accessible, verifiable, and secure for generations to come. Rather than relying on traditional cloud storage models, DLS is engineered for durability, portability, and long-term stewardship.

DLS eliminates the false choice between fully custodial and fully self-custodial systems by integrating decentralized storage, cryptographic integrity verification, permanent metadata anchoring, hybrid custody architecture, and AI-assisted archival workflows. The result is a long-horizon digital preservation platform, not a consumer cloud service, serving families, historical societies, museums, genealogists, and private archives.

The DLS decentralized application (DApp) enables long-term photo and video preservation through abstracted non-custodial wallets secured by device authentication, biometric access, and invisible key management, while allowing advanced users to opt into full self-custody. A multi-key guardian recovery system prevents data loss without centralized control, ensuring fully portable, verifiable archives for families and institutions in Connecticut and across the United States.

In the digital age, our memories are scattered across cloud storage, social media, and hard drives—often at the mercy of centralized platforms that can delete, lose, or restrict access to our most valuable moments.

Why We Care

What We’re Raising Funds For…

We are raising funds to complete the DLS DApp as a fully functional, secure, and user-ready platform. Funding will specifically support:

  • Finalizing full-stack development of the DLS DApp, including smart contract optimization, wallet abstraction, and DRM-based media rights.

Traditional blockchain applications force users into either:

DLS solves this with a Hybrid Custody Architecture purpose-built for media longevity, accessibility, and security. There are tools for storing photos, tools for blockchain storage, and digitization services, but no single system that unifies all three into a preservation-grade, future-proof archive. DLS is building that missing layer.

  • New users automatically receive an abstracted smart wallet where private keys are secured through:

    • Device-based authentication

    • Biometric access

    • Invisible key management

    Users do not manage seed phrases or private keys.

    This approach:

    • Removes onboarding friction

    • Supports seniors, families, and institutions

    • Reduces user error

    • Allows intuitive login and recovery

  • Advanced users can optionally export:

  • For users staying in the default non-custodial mode, DLS uses a multi-signature guardian recovery model, where:

    • One key remains on the user device

    • One key is encrypted and split across DLS shards

    • One key is held via recovery verification

    It mirrors industry-leading approaches used by Coinbase, Safe, and Fireblocks.

    • Media files are stored on IPFS and Arweave with optional encryption layers.
